The Mechanical Foot in My Dream

I've been having recurring dreams of a mechanical foot with a heart imprinted on the thigh. In the dream, a man with one normal leg and a mechanical foot runs on a cobblestone street in a city that I cannot recognize.

I drew an illustration of the foot knowing that I had poor drawing skills. But the picture basically gives you the gist of what I've dreamt about.

When I told Matt about my dream, he immediately came up with an amazing interpretation (he's a genius!). Legs are used for walking, to walk on a path in which leads to a journey in life. So the mechanical foot suggests that the man is walking a path that is not necessarily his own. The mechanical foot is something that has been made by another person other than himself. In this case, the foot resembles my mechanical walk to the Korean army. A path that has been chosen, not by me, but by the government.

On the other hand, the fact that the man still has one normal leg means that the path that I am taking is still mine. In a way, going to the army is my choice. I could have chose to never return to Korea and stay in New York. But I came back to fulfill my military obligation. Since this is my my choice, I am going to try my best to not regret the experience. And this is probably what the heart stands for. A sign of hope and something worthwhile that is to come from embracing this particular mechanical foot. :)
